Who we are

The project Rifugi-Bivacchi was born in 2000 and it is an idea of Giuseppe 'Popi' Miotti, mountaineer, alpine guide, journalist.

In these years the site grew up improving its features but maintaining the three main lines of its philosophy

ease and simplicity in use and continuos upgrading of informations 


At moment, besides Miotti the site management is composed by


Even though  a long period without a real marketing program or business plan, the site grew up due to the accuracy and reliability of the informations, increasing the visits year after year and now it is always in the first ranking positions on different web search engines.


With 2943 huts and bivouacs described, rifugi-bivacchi is the most complete database about alpine huts and shelters in Europe (Alps and Appennino), giving informations also for a lot of unmanaged huts and other shelters and extending its service to many less known buildings


The very new version is based on a map search with interactive areas and on a very flexible textual searching with a lot of filtering chances.
